About us

The HUMDA Hungarian Motorsport and Green Mobility Development Agency, founded by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology, brings its green mobility program closer to the people under the brand HUMDA Green. Electromobility is highly emphasized in the operation of the HUMDA. HUMDA Green, which includes the support scheme for the Green Bus Program and other electric, battery powered or even fuel cell vehicles, provides a clear identification of green mobility activities.

The basic task of HUMDA Green is educational communication which is necessary to understand the background of the technologies and innovative ideas in the Agency’s own projects, which are also presented under the brand HUMDA Green. In addition, HUMDA Green communicates about changes and innovations and presents initiatives worthy of support. One of the biggest challenges of our time is global warming. In order to achieve the 2050 climate targets set by the European Union and undertaken by Hungary, a significant reduction in emissions from the transport sector is essential. This sector is responsible for almost one-fifth of Hungary's total emissions, of which road transport is responsible for 98% of emissions. One significant way to achieve climate goals is to promote electric vehicles, including electric buses, by replacing old, polluting buses.

In September 2019, the Government of Hungary adopted the concept of the national bus strategy, the Green Bus Program (Government Decree 1537/2019 (IX. 20.), as amended by 1280/2021 (V. 17.)). As a part of this, the Green Bus Project Office was created. The Green Bus Project Office was hosted by the Neumann János Nonprofit Közhasznú Kft. and operated under the supervision of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. From 1st September 2021, HUMDA continues to operate the Green Bus Program.

As per the Government Decree 1537/2019. (IX. 20.), the aim of the Green Bus Program is to replace the bus fleet in currently operation by encouraging the domestic bus production, reducing the average age of the buses, the emission values , the maintenance, and the operating costs, as well as improving the quality of travel services.

According to the Government Decree 2117/2019., 35.9 HUF billion was allocated in the period 2020-2029 to promote a clean and energy-efficient market for buses performing local public transport tasks. The aim is to enforce the domestic employment policy, industrial development and export capacity-enhancing aspects in a market-conform manner, to satisfy the long-term asset demand of bus transport through the highest possible value-added domestic production.
